This beautiful Edwardian house in a conservation area was in need of restoration. A new light contemporary single storey extension was added to the rear with a subtle twist in its plan to allow it to look down the garden and to visually separate it from the existing building.

Extending a home
A lot of the projects that we design look exceedingly effortless and beautiful like this extension in Greenwich. Initially the house had a small existing galley kitchen and a slim difficult to use yard.
With this project, as with most of our projects, we produced a number of interactive three dimensional sketches allowing the clients to "walk around" their potential new home and choose an option that will be very happy with.
In contrast to their previous existing rear extension they now have a good sized kitchen and dining area with a peninsula breakfast bar, along with a small WC tucked under the stairs. The well lit space looks out on to their walled yard visually connecting the spaces making this space a key part of their home. A large pyramidal skylight was centred on the opening to the living room ensuring natural light reached the rear of the existing home and leading you through in to the new space.
